What We Do
Spam Firewall is a Shopify app that protects your store's contact form from spam. It uses honeypot fields and pattern matching to detect and block spam submissions before they reach your inbox.
Data We Collect
We collect minimal data, only what is necessary to provide the spam filtering service:
- For blocked (spam) submissions: sender email, sender name, and a preview of the message (first 300 characters). This is stored so merchants can review blocked messages and mark false positives.
- For allowed (clean) submissions: no personal data is stored. We only record an anonymous count for statistics.
- Shop information: your Shopify store domain, used to associate submissions with your store.
How Data Is Stored
- All data is stored in a SQLite database on our server.
- No data is shared with third parties.
- No data is used for advertising or marketing.
- No cookies are set on your storefront visitors.
- No tracking scripts are loaded.
Data Retention
- Submission data is retained for as long as the app is installed on your store.
- When you uninstall the app, all your store's data is automatically deleted within 48 hours.
Your Rights (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Union, you have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of any personal data we store.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data.
- Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data.

Storefront Visitors
For visitors submitting your contact form: we do not store any data from legitimate (non-spam) submissions. If a submission is flagged as spam, we store the sender's email, name, and message preview so the merchant can review the decision. This data is only accessible to the store owner through the app dashboard.
